Sodium Polyacrylae Dispersant For Use In Water Based Paints With Dispersant For Pigment, The choice of the dispersing agents is a key issue in the coating water based paints. Formulators have to find the most suitable products for their formulation taking into account the final application of their coating, the coating system (water based, solvent based, etc.) and the other additives.
The role of the dispersing agents is to enhance the dispersion process and ensure a fine particle size in order to stabilize pigments in the resin solution. As explained earlier, an efficient dispersant has to perform the three main functions: Pigment wetting, dispersing, and stabilizing. Dispersing agents generally differ for aqueous and solvent-based coatings.

Barium carbonate from barium sulphide (black ash), Barium carbonate (baco3), also known as with rite, is a chemical compound used in rat poison, bricks, ceramic glazes and cement. With rite crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. The crystals are invariably twinned together in groups of three, giving rise to pseudo-hexagonal forms somewhat resembling bipyramidal crystals of quartz, the faces are usually rough and striated horizontally. The mineral is named after william withering, who in 1784 recognized it to be chemically distinct from barytes.

Zinc oxide is an inorganic compound with the formula ZnO. ZnO is a white powder that is insoluble in water, which is widely used as an additive in numerous materials and products including plastics, ceramics, glass, cement, lubricant, paints, ointments, adhesives, sealants, pigments, foods (source of Zn nutrient), batteries, ferrites, fire retardants, and first aid tapes. It occurs naturally as the mineral zincite but most zinc oxide is produced synthetically.

In materials science, ZnO is a wide-bandgap semiconductor of the II-VI semiconductor group (since oxygen was classed as an element of VIA group (the 6th main group, now referred to as 16th) of the periodic table and zinc, a transition metal, as a member of the IIB (2nd B), now 12th, group). The native doping of the semiconductor (due to oxygen vacancies) is n-type. This semiconductor has several favorable properties, including good transparency, high electron mobility, wide bandgap, and strong room-temperature luminescence. Those properties are used in emerging applications for transparent electrodes in liquid crystal displays, in energy-saving or heat-protecting windows, and in electronics as thin-film transistors and light-emitting diodes.

Soda ash is chemically known as sodium carbonate. Broadly there are two ways in which soda ash is produced, it is either manufactured synthetically from salt or is obtained from refining of naturally available mineral, trona, or naturally occurring sodium carbonate-bearing brines. Globally, approximately 75% of soda ash is produced from the synthetic process. Processing costs of soda ash from naturally available sources is less than the manufacturing costs of producing soda ash synthetically, thereby making the naturally available soda ash less expensive. There are three main processes to manufacture soda ash from salt.

Production Description:
  • Standard solvay process: The standard solvay process is characterized with low salt utilization and requirement of good quality of limestone and coke.
  • This process, compared to other two processes, generates larger amount of effluents and hence require good disposal facilities
  • Modified solvay process: The modified solvay process has better salt utilization and requirement of limestone is less.
  • But the process requires very high quality of salt without any impurities and ammonia requirement is also high.
  • Dry liming process: The raw material consumption is low in the dry liming process and it has a perfect steam power

Carbon is probably the most widely distributed element in nature. It occurs in two allotropic crystalline forms viz. Graphite (hexagonal system) and diamond (isomeric system), the former is soft and black while diamond is hard and transparent. Charcoal, coke and carbon black, classified as emorphous carbon; are considered by some to represent a third allotropic form. They are said to be composed of very minute crystals of graphite by others. Carbon is an essential constituent of all vegetable and animal matter in which it occurs in combination with hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen and other elements in immense variety of compounds. In combination with hydrogen it occurs as hydrocarbons in petroleum. it is also found in carbon dioxide in air (0. 03% as sodium bicarbonate in sea water, and as calcium and magnesium carbonate in sedimentary rocks such as chalk and dolomite.

The origin of the safety match industry in India goes back to the beginning of this century. Around 1910 immigrant Japanese families who settled in Calcutta began making matches with simple hand- and power-operated machines. Local people soon learned the necessary skills and a number of small match factories sprang up in and around Calcutta. These small match factories could not meet the total requirements of the country however, and India began to import matches from Sweden and Japan. During the First World War, when Swedish matches could not be imported, the Indian market was fed mainly by imported matches from Japan and by the locally made ones which followed the Japanese pattern introduced in Calcutta.

Sorbitol, a polyol (sugar alcohol), is a bulk sweetener found in numerous food products. In addition to providing sweetness, it is an excellent humectant and texturizing agent. Sorbitol is about 60 percent as sweet as sucrose with one-third fewer calories. It has a smooth mouthfeel with a sweet, cool and pleasant taste. It is non-cariogenic and may be useful to people with diabetes. Sorbitol has been safely used in processed foods for almost half a century. It is also used in other products, such as pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. D-Soribitol, CH2OH(CHOH)4CH2OH (D-glucitol, L-gulitol), is a hexahydric alcohol with a 6-carbon atom straight-chain that contains six hydroxyl gropups, and has a molecular weight of 182.17. It exists as a white, odorless, crystalline solid. Because of a negative heat of solution, sorbitol has a cooling effect when tasted. The hexitol has about two-thirds the sweetness of sugar.

Rock phosphate is the source from which dicalcium phosphate can be manufactured. It finds applicability as a fertilizer and animal feed. The phosphours pentoxide content ranges around 41-42% in the dihydrate form. The trade mark for a dentrifice grade dicalcium phosphate dihydrate is captioned as "Dicalcium phosphate victor". It is CaHPO4.2H2O plus additive. FCC grade, Which is used as polishing agent in dentrifices. In the shallow, medium and deep-black soils having the carbonate content from 3 to 6%, the available phosphorous was highest at 60 days when superphosphate was applied, whereas in the alluvial soil containing 1% carbonate , the highest available phosphorous was observed at 60 days when the fertilizer applied was dicalcium phosphate. Dicalcium phosphate proved as effective as superphosphate on alluvial, coastal alluvial, red and laterite soils, but was inferior on medium-black and deltaic saline soils.

Inorganic feed phosphates (IFP) are inorganic salts of phosphoric acid. The use of inorganic feed phosphates is necessary to meet the phosphorus requirements for animal production: To ensure optimal growth, fertility and bone development. Feed phosphates are of great importance among the feed materials produced for intensification of livestock farming. They are produced and applied in relatively large quantities, although for several years, both their production and use were often characterized by an unfavorable opinion resulting from the potentially adverse impact on the environment.

Softening of textile materials was probably carried out in prehistoric times and has continued till today. Most of the Softening agents are derived from straight chain fatty radicals containing 12 to 18 carbon atoms.

Softening agents may be divided into three main classes i.e.:
      • Anionic Softeners such as oil Emulsions, sulphonated oils, soaps, sulphated fatty alcohols & tallow.
      • Cationic softeners - such as substituted quaternary ammonium compounds and
      • Noronic Softeners such as Polyoxyethylene derivatives, Polyethylene emulsions & silicons.
      • Recently reactive softeners are available in the market which react directly with hydroxyl groups of cellulose macromolecule by means of functional groups.
      • In textile finishing articles, the past decade can be considered "the age of the acrylics" and the era of the multipurpose finish.
      • Numerous polymers farmed from acrylic monomers have been specially 'Tailored' to meet the finisher exacting requirements.
      • Multipurpose finished have been big property-wise & economy wise.
      • Multipurpose finishes such as combined water repellency, flame retardancy & rotproofness have contributed to continued use of cotton in outdoor application.
